DIY Face Scrub Recipe with Soothing Aloe and Lavender

DIY Face Scrub Recipe with Soothing Aloe and Lavender

Making a homemade face scrub isn't hard! You can whip up this easy DIY face scrub recipe and have a soothing spa experience at home all for pennies on the dollar compared to expensive pre-made face scrubs (not to mention sketchy ingredients like parabens and phthalates and hormone disrupting chemicals, oh my!).

This homemade face scrub is made with aloe, sugar and lavender oil. Aloe is a natural skin moisturizer and is used in a Ayurvedic medicine as a remedy for all kinds of skin problems (read more about aloe in skin care here). Lavender essential oil is very soothing to the skin and helps reduce redness and irritation. Sugar is a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells without the use of microplastics found in some storebought scrubs.

I'm sure you will love this soothing homemade face scrub recipe! Just as with any face scrub (even the kind you buy at the store!), be sure to keep it away from your eyes and if any sign of irritation develops, discontinue use immediately.

Where to buy high quality essential oils

Even if your friend who sells oils from that one company insists that their company is the only one that has the secret to the highest quality essential oils, it's just not the case. Several companies make high quality essential oils these are my favorites. Also, because essential oils are super concentrated, any time you can use organic oils is a win!

Directions

How to make homemade face scrub

Mix together the sugar, aloe and lavender essential oil until smooth. If the mixture is too dry or gritty, continue adding aloe a teaspoon at a time until you like the texture

How to use your homemade face scrub

Wash your skin as you typically do then buff and polish with face scrub, using small circular motions. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

For the ultimate nourishing experience, follow with a serum or night cream. I am currently obsessed with the CounterMatch Intense Moisture Serum from BeautyCounter. The BeautyCounter Nourishing Night Cream is another deeply hydrating favorite of mine made with clean ingredients and none of the bad stuff!

How to store your DIY face scrub

One of the great things about this scrub is that it doesn't contain artificial preservatives. That means you will need to store it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. You can store this in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Allow to come to room temp before using for a gentle polish. Or for a more refreshing and cooling sensation, use chilled.

Enjoy!
